Musikverein Edelweiß Sulzbach: »Moment for Morricone«, »Songs from the Musical Cats«, »Phantom der Oper« – wer kennt sie nicht, die grandiosen Arrangements von Johan de Meij? Zum 85-jährigen Bestehen lud der Musikverein Johan de Meij als Gastdirigent für das Konzert ein.
Nach der Zusage von de Meij fuhren die Musiker noch konzentrierter mit der Probearbeit für das Jubiläumskonzert fort. Dass die zehnstündige Probenarbeit mit Johan de Meij von Erfolg gekrönt war, konnten die knapp 800 Zuhörer des Konzerts erleben, die die Darbietungen mit frenetischem Beifall und stehenden Ovationen bedachten. Auch zwischen den Stücken wusste Johan de Meij die Zuhörer mit seinem Charme für sich zu begeistern. Sein Kompliment an das Jugendblasorchester, das mit zwei Stücken das Konzert eröffnet hatte, tat das Seinige dazu. Aber auch dem Blasorchester sprach de Meij sein Lob aus. Insbesondere dankte er Dirigent Winfried Rehse für die optimale Vorbereitung, die er vorgefunden hatte.
Wie aber empfanden die Orchestermitglieder die Arbeit unter Johan de Meij? Hier lässt sich ganz klar festhalten: Das Projekt hat sich sowohl für die einzelnen Musiker als auch für das gesamte Orchester gelohnt! Natürlich durfte das Konzert nicht ohne de Meijs »Moment for Morricone« ausklingen, das man ganz am Ende als Zugabe spielte.
